After receiving a fell synthetic oil change I was told my next oil change would be needed at 5000 miles. It's even placed on the windshield sticker. I called questioning this as I have never heard a full synthetic oil change being quoted for only 5000 miles and I was told they go by manufacturer recommended specifics. I contacted the manufacturer immediately after and this is NOT the case. Seems like a shady business practice to milk people out of $$ sooner than what is needed.
Hi Anonymous- most manufacturers recommend 5000-6000 miles between oil changes and to use full synthetic oil for severe service usage (cold weather, hot weather, towing, short trips, etc...). We don't make money on oil changes- they are a loss leader in our business. We're simply making the same recommendation to you that we would make to our family members. However, you are responsible for your vehicle's maintenance- if you want to go 15k miles between oil changes you are welcome to do that but our experience is that you will regret it sooner or later when you start having engine problems. Thank you again for your feedback and have a great day!
